With SPOT only 3 months away we’re proud to present a new strong multicoloured bouquet for this years’ festival. Let’s start with Yung (top picture): Anthemic guitars, coarse feedback and driving rhythm, insistent to the point of impatience and defying the Danish Law of Jante (saying that one should downplay one’s own achievements and blend in to support the masses). Their effort has been heard, as their Fat Possum deal proves. Label mates Communions create delicate, emotive and timeless indie rock songs, with a sophisticated and elegant quality which belies the band’s young age.
Art metallers Kellermensch are another act playing SPOT again. To loads of critical acclaim, they have unleashed a new album brimming over with their unique heavy songs that include singing, growling, harmonium and double bass. They will be backed by string quartet Who Killed Bambi for this special event. The Dane Lasse Matthiessen is not an unfamiliar name in Germany, where he’s living now. Far from it actually as his delicate blend of American-influenced folk and patient contemporary Scandinavian music has won him a dedicated audience there. And The Rumour Said Fire, who also toured quite a bit in Germany earlier, are back with a new album end April – just in time for SPOT.
KONNI KASS
AyOwA’s electronic pop music has enjoyed frequent airplay on BBC and Beats 1. Despite the Danish lyrics, foreign media like Huffington Post and Vice have taken a liking to the duos atmospheric songs. Bellhound Choir’s dark and stripped-down alternative blues has already toured Europe last December in support of John Garcia (ex-Kyuss). And Vera – an alias for MØ, Soleima and Liss producer William Asingh – will play SPOT with androgynous pop vocals, smooth saxophone, and flamenco guitar mixed with electronic beats. SPOT also presents KONNI KASS – a soulful yet uniquely Nordic female voice that delicately flirts with pop, electro and a universe of synths. The Faroese act’s performance at last years’ SPOT resulted in countless international successes such as deals with major players like FKP Scorpio, sold out shows in cities such as Berlin and Copenhagen on her recent 2017 debut release tour, performances at the prestigious Reeperbahn Festival and Iceland Airwaves, a nomination for the Reeperbahn’s Anchor Award and serious support from the influential German music radio station Radio Eins.

Furthermore, renowned DJ and producer Faustix, who has remixed huge stars such as Chris Brown and Major Lazer, will be at SPOT 2017. So will old-school rock ‘n’ roll sister trio Velvet Volume and acclaimed alternative folk band Jonah Blacksmith. Hopefully Silvester will bring the sun to SPOT with their summer pop soul, alongside the melancholic and electronic soul from Wangel. In addition, there is Soleima, whose r’n’b-inspired pop music has won praise from the influential international blogs The Line of Best Fit and Indie Shuffle. And Norwegian pop hope Amanda Delara will be at SPOT 2017 too.
