The international media has been vey kind to the SPOT 2017, and we’re glad that we have been able to act as bridge between the international media and the new Danish/Nordic music – as well as getting our international delegates interested in the city of Aarhus, with its arcithcture and buildings, the innercity area around the Canal, the museums etc.
Below we present media clippings and quotes from the festival – and we know that there is still more to come…
The Independent (UK) – Spot Festival review: Danish festival makes it look easy
“The apparent effortlessness of what Spot’s organisers achieve is possibly the most impressive thing about it. Co-ordinating (literally) hundreds of bands and performers spanning everything from Scandi pop, dream-pop and chamber music to Levantine folk (the wonderful Syrian wedding singer Omar Souleyman was in town) and heavy-duty techno (Greenlandic DJ/producer Courtesy) having it all go smoothly is one thing; having that happen in a genuinely relaxed and creative environment is quite another. Spot, though, with all the self-assurance and organisational nous that comes from decades of success in the game, plus a setting of rare charm and beauty, makes it look very easy indeed. “

Culture Collide (US) – Recap: Denmarks SPOT Festival
“You may not have come across Aarhus before, but this curiously unsung location is one of 2017’s European Capitals of Culture, and with good reason. Denmark’s second city boasts a burgeoning arts scene, and that’s never more apparent than in springtime at the annual SPOT festival. Here Scandinavia’s music industry elite — and a lot of enthusiastic fans — gather to discover the new breed of Nordic talent. It’s a terrifically mixed bag, in some memorable locations”.
Gigwize (UK) – The spellbinding city-festival at the heart of the Nordic Music scene
It’s none the more charming than when SPOT, Scandinavia’s own version of South By Southwest, casts its influence and transforms the city into the ultimate city-centre festival. Every venue, public space, throws parties that embrace the festival spirit to the fullest.
